About Anja Whitemyer:
Born and raised in Germany - Niedersachsen
October 2001 moved into the United States ( Los Angeles , California) and work as a photographer and painter
2007 - 2013 owner of Anja Whitemyer Photography -Event / family and children photography
August 2014 move to Las Vegas, Nevada.
2016 - 2017 curator for Jana's RedRoom, a Las Vegas based Art Gallery.
2016 opened her own fine art Gallery, AW Gallery in the Artsfactory , Las Vegas.
2019 expended AW Gallery in a more open showroom, to showcase local and internal artists besides her own artworks.
Anja about Anja's art: Anja is an emerging American contemporary artist. She is inspired by historic iconic figures and her love of today’s fashion. She uses a creative mix of mediums, merging digital design with various layers of texture found from resin, glitter, paint, and crystals. By putting a modern spin on familiar imagery. Her medium are digital art collages printed on fine art canvases.
Anja’s pop art not only introduces younger generations to these important icons or " strange faces" but also touches on materialism and values of today’s culture.
Her admiration for influential females can be seen in her past and current works, as she creates a playful spin on contemporary culture using prominent branding and bold colors. Guided by her fascination with the differences in communities, values, and needs, she has seen in her move from Germany to the U.S., she expresses this contrast in culture through her work.
She got a scholarship at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK Hamburg) = University of fine Arts in Hamburg. She worked as a documentary photographer for a lot of her artist friends in Europe.
